Diversity & Inclusion Employee Spotlight: Elizabeth Mulski
We are pleased to spotlight Associate Elizabeth Simonik Mulski this month! Liz works in the Biotechnology group in our Boston office.
I lateraled to Wolf Greenfield from a general practice firm in August of 2019—just over 5.5 years ago.
How has being authentic helped you in your career?
Being authentic is a tool that has helped me foster genuine relationships in both academic and professional environments throughout my career. I found that being transparent about my true self and my core values from the onset of a working relationship has enabled me to gain the trust and respect of colleagues and clients alike. In my experience, most people favor collaborating with someone who is not only an open and honest communicator, but also someone who they feel they can connect with on at least some fundamental level.
What motivates you to wake up and go to work?
Working in a fast-paced environment on the latest advancements in biotechnology is very exciting, but what I find most motivating is the close collaboration among myself, my colleagues, and our clients. It is really satisfying to be a part of intelligent and cohesive teams of people working together to creatively protect innovation.
What has been your favorite project/assignment at Wolf Greenfield?
While I do not have a specific favorite project or assignment, with a background in cancer biology, I particularly enjoy working on projects for my clients focused on developing and improving cancer therapeutics.
Why is diversity and inclusion in the workplace important to you?
Diversity and inclusion in the workplace is vital because the result is teams that are better equipped to solve complex problems, a daily task in the world of IP law. I mentioned above that collaborating on client teams motivates me to come to work every day. Those teams are creative and successful because they are made up of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who approach problems with different perspectives and bring fresh ideas.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
In a past life, I wanted to be a marine biologist. In my current life, I have settled for an advanced SCUBA certification. I have two young children at home (Eva 2.5 years and Henry 9 months) and one German Shepherd who takes her job as “big sister” to the other two very seriously.
