1st Oligonucleotide Therapeutics Regional Meeting: Australia & New Zealand
November 25 - November 27, 2026
Jean Ge will present “A Framework for IP Strategy in Oligonucleotide Therapeutics” at the 1st Oligonucleotide Therapeutics Regional Meeting for Australia and New Zealand, which brings together researchers, clinicians, and industry leaders working in oligonucleotide and RNA therapeutics.
Unconjugated oligonucleotide therapeutics are regulated as small molecules but structurally resemble complex biologics, so a single-patent approach is rarely enough. Jean’s talk introduces a framework for layered protection across sequence, chemistry, delivery, and manufacturing, and shows how the emphasis shifts from platform to lead candidate to approved product. It also addresses unsettled case law, divergent US and European standards on claim breadth, and the freedom-to-operate challenges of a crowded landscape.
