Success for Client Cirrus Logic in Federal Circuit Appeal of Reexam
Wolf Greenfield recently prevailed at the Federal Circuit on behalf of our client, Cirrus Logic, a supplier of audio technology for consumer electronics. In an appeal from an inter partes reexamination, the Federal Circuit issued a precedential opinion affirming the Patent Trial and Appeal Board’s decision in favor of Cirrus. This is a significant win for the company over a competitor that has used its patents to extract significant royalties from the market.
The Federal Circuit decision affirmed the Board’s decision rejecting all of the claims challenged by Cirrus Logic in the underlying reexamination. In affirming the Board’s decision, the Federal Circuit agreed with the arguments that Wolf Greenfield advanced at the Patent and Trademark Office and at the Federal Circuit.
The Wolf Greenfield team, which included Nathan Speed, Marc Johannes and Rich Giunta, handled the reexamination from its inception all the way through the appeal. Read more in Law360. This is the firm's third precedential Federal Circuit win from a post-grant matter in the last two months.
