Oona Johnstone Recognized Among Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s “Top Women of Law”

Each year, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly celebrates the achievements of exceptional women lawyers who are pioneers, educators, trailblazers, and role models. Oona was honored at the Top Women of Law event on November 18, 2025.
Oona works closely with life science clients, taking a creative approach to helping them develop intellectual property strategies that are catered to their specific business needs. Her practice includes US and foreign patent prosecution, IP due diligence, freedom-to-operate (FTO) and patent landscape analysis, IP transactions, and client counseling related to post-grant proceedings—including inter partes review (IPR)—in the areas of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and cleantech.
Corporate clients ranging from start-ups to large multinational companies, financial institutions including private equity and venture capital firms, non-profit organizations, and universities regularly seek Oona’s counsel.
Her experience spans a wide range of technologies including synthetic biology, biologics such as antibodies and engineered recombinant proteins, gene editing, gene therapy, neuroscience, nucleic acid-based therapeutics, foodtech, agtech, transgenics, vaccines, and immune-modulating agents.
