William Czaplyski, PhD
(he/him/his)Overview
Will Czaplyski focuses on patent prosecution and counseling in the pharmaceutical space. He has extensive experience in organic chemistry, including reaction methodology development, late-stage diversification of natural products, polymer chemistry, and small-molecule probes.
Will prepares and prosecutes US and foreign patent applications for a variety of technologies in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology spaces. He regularly conducts invalidity, non-infringement, patentability, and freedom-to-operate analyses and advises clients. In addition, he has experience assisting in transactional matters, including preparation of licensing and R&D collaboration agreements.
Prior to joining Wolf Greenfield, Will obtained his JD from Harvard Law School and his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His graduate research focused on radical-mediated aliphatic C–H functionalization of small molecules and polymers using a novel N-xanthylamide reagent. He also developed a strategy for aliphatic C–H functionalization using photoredox catalysis.
Will received his BS and MS degrees in chemistry at the College of William & Mary, where he studied novel pH-responsive fluorescent rhodamine dyes.
Most recently, Will spent two summers as summer associate at Wolf Greenfield.
