Overview

Dong June (DJ) Jang assists the firm in patent prosecution in areas related to chemistry and materials science. With a background in inorganic nanomaterials, nanoparticle synthesis and purification, and developing novel materials characterization techniques, Dong June draws on his technical experience when working with clients.

Dong June earned his PhD in materials science and engineering at Cornell University, where his research centered on fluorescent inorganic nanoparticles for oncological applications. He developed HPLC methods to study the surface chemistry and a “magic-size” formation mechanism of protein-sized silica nanoparticles. Additionally, he implemented cryo-electron microscopy with single-particle reconstruction methods to discover novel cage-like nanoparticle architectures formed through surfactant-templated self-assembly.

Dong June has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations on advanced materials synthesis and characterization, and he completed coursework in intellectual property and technology law.
