Julia N. Fountain, PhD
Overview
Julia Fountain assists the firm with pharmaceutical patent prosecution, utilizing her extensive knowledge in the areas of organic and biological chemistry to support the firm’s clients.
Julia’s scientific background is in small molecule design and synthesis as well as protein modification for biomaterial development. She received a PhD in chemistry from Tufts University, where her research included synthesizing novel trivalent iodonium molecules for the fluorination of amino acids, carbohydrates, peptides, and proteins.
Prior to joining Wolf Greenfield, Julia was a graduate research assistant at Tufts University. In this role, while mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, she created novel silk-based materials for antifouling applications and utilized fluorinated to assess metabolic incorporation of analogs onto cell surface glycans.
Julia is also an inventor and has a patent in the area of hydrophobic silk fibroin construction.
