Overview

Nourin Alsharif assists the firm in patent prosecution and counseling in the mechanical technologies area. She works with clients of various sizes in the areas of soft materials, medical devices, photonics, nano and microscale manufacturing, consumer devices, and more. Nourin has experience in drafting utility and design patent applications, counseling clients on US and foreign patent prosecution, and general IP strategizing.

Nourin graduated from Boston University School of Law while spending her summers as a Summer Associate in the firm’s Mechanical Technologies practice. In law school, she was a member of the Journal of Science and Technology Law, where her Note involving the empirical analysis of generative AI-assisted patent applications was a finalist for the Michael Fricklas and Donna Astion Prize IP & Entertainment Law. Nourin was also a student attorney in the BU/MIT Student Innovations Law Clinic, where she assisted with patent counseling, trademark prosecution, and FOIA requests. Nourin was also actively engaged in a number of affinity groups while in law school, developing strong community connections and mentoring incoming law students.

Prior to law school, Nourin received her PhD from Boston University College of Engineering, conducting research on a number of nanomaterials topics, such as novel architectures of multifunctional active materials, 3D printed polymer atomic force microscope probes, and sensors formed massively parallel polymer pens. Her doctoral research has resulted in a number of peer-reviewed publications as well as presentations at conferences globally. Nourin is also a co-inventor on a granted patent related to her doctoral research.
