We are pleased to spotlight Patent Paralegal Nayasha Mombeshora this month!
Nayasha works in the Biotechnology Practice in our Boston office.

How long have you been at Wolf Greenfield?
I joined Wolf Greenfield in April 2024, so it’s been about 10 months now.

How has being authentic helped you in your career?
Authenticity has been the key to my personal growth and development in my career. By staying true to myself, I’ve been able to form stronger, more genuine connections with the people I work with. It’s also given me the confidence to pursue work that truly resonates with me, which makes work feel more like a passion than just a means to an end.

What motivates you to wake up and go to work?
I was raised by a single mother who immigrated from Africa. I stand on the shoulders of her hard work and sacrifice, and every day, I strive to honor her efforts by working hard at whatever brings me joy and success. I’m also grateful for the people and culture at Wolf Greenfield and feel fortunate to work alongside individuals who are not only brilliant, but also kind and supportive.

What has been your favorite project/assignment at Wolf Greenfield?
I’m still in training, but so far, I’ve enjoyed preparing sequence listings and art tracking systems. I’m also new to the IP world, so I’ve enjoyed learning the rules and dynamics of patent prosecution. It’s fascinating to see how research and development translate into patents, and it’s given me a whole new appreciation for how IP helps bring innovation to life.

Why is diversity and inclusion in the workplace important to you?
Diversity and inclusion are essential for fostering innovation, breaking barriers, and creating a workplace that truly reflects the real world. Not long ago, marginalized groups had little choice but to conform to societal norms that limited their career opportunities. Today, I’m grateful for those who paved the way for progress and equal opportunities for all. Seeing diverse representation at all levels serves as a reminder that our unique attributes are strengths, not limitations. Ultimately, when organizations embrace diverse perspectives, they build stronger, more dynamic teams, and create an enriched environment where everyone thrives.

What is something most people don’t know about you?
I’m a dual citizen, American and Canadian. I was born in Wisconsin, the dairy state (unfortunately, I’m lactose-intolerant), but I grew up in Lowell, MA, where I discovered my first true love: basketball. I eventually moved to Canada, where my passion for the sport grew, and I received a scholarship to play at university.

Last Words
Your worth is not defined by how you compare to others – it’s about the unique contributions you make, the values you stand for, and the kindness you show to others. Never forget that you are valuable simply because you are you!
