Two Wolf Greenfield Attorneys Named Finalists for Life Sciences Patent Strategy Awards

Two shareholders from Wolf Greenfield’s Biotechnology Practice have been shortlisted for top honors in patent strategy at the 2026 Life Sciences Americas Awards.

  • Kevin MacDonald is one of six attorneys shortlisted for Patent Strategy Attorney of the Year – Massachusetts.
  • Dan Young is one of five attorneys shortlisted for Patent Strategy Attorney of the Year – DC Metro.

Kevin works with clients on IP strategy and portfolio management, and patent prosecution and counseling, across a wide range of technologies including cell and gene therapy, RNA interference, bioinformatics, mRNA therapeutics, and biologics manufacturing. He represents clients across the spectrum including venture-backed start-ups, large biopharma, public and private universities, and research institutions. Kevin also represents clients in buy- and sell-side IP due diligence, and drafting and negotiating IP-centric agreements, such as licensing agreements, sponsored research agreements, and technology collaboration agreements.

Dan provides strategic intellectual property counsel to life sciences companies, research institutions, and investors, and is recognized for developing creative solutions to complex patent issues. He partners with clients to develop and maintain patent portfolios covering biologics and small molecules, and to align patent and regulatory strategies to establish strong exclusivity positions around clinical programs. He also has extensive experience defending and conducting due diligence analyses, devising and implementing worldwide third-party patent risk management strategies, and addressing IP issues in transactional matters. Dan regularly advises companies on patent strategy in relation to private placements, public offerings, debt financings, and mergers and acquisitions.

These awards highlight the law firms, attorneys, and in-house teams who have led in key practice specialisms within the life sciences industry over the past year. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on September 10, 2026, in New York City.
