Two Wolf Greenfield Attorneys Recognized by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly
We are pleased to announce that Kevin MacDonald and Emma Frank have been recognized by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly as part of their Excellence in the Law Awards. Kevin has been recognized as one of their “Up & Coming Lawyers” while Emma has been recognized in the “Excellence in Pro Bono” category.
Each year Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly celebrates up and coming lawyers and honorees for excellence in pro bono, marketing, firm administration, and paralegal work. Both were honored on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025 at their annual Excellence in the Law Celebration.
Kevin, a shareholder in Wolf Greenfield’s Biotechnology Practice, assists clients with IP strategy and portfolio management, and patent prosecution and counseling, across a wide range of technologies including cell and gene therapy, RNA interference, bioinformatics, mRNA therapeutics, and biologics manufacturing. Kevin represents clients across the spectrum including venture-backed start-ups, large biopharma, public and private universities, and research institutions.
Kevin also represents clients in buy- and sell-side IP due diligence, and drafting and negotiating IP-centric agreements, such as licensing agreements, sponsored research agreements, and technology collaboration agreements.
Emma, an associate in Wolf Greenfield’s Litigation Practice, represents clients in patent, trademark, and trade secret litigation matters in federal district courts and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). She uses her training as a scientist not only to dig into clients’ technologies, but to approach problems and develop solutions to protect clients’ most important inventions and defend against assertions of competitors’ intellectual property.
Emma proudly maintains a robust pro bono practice, having represented clients in family law matters through the Women’s Bar Foundation, unemployment assistance appeals through the Volunteer Lawyers Project, immigration and disability litigation as co-counsel with the Jerome N. Frank Legal Services Organization, and veteran affairs appeals through the Veterans Consortium. She has also worked with the Innocence Project on amici briefs in criminal cases involving genotyping software evidence.
