Charles P. Choi, PhD

Charles Choi assists the firm in providing a wide range of patent services and support for biotechnology, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications, performing patentability and landscape analyses, and advising on effective intellectual property portfolios. His areas of experience include antibody therapeutics, stem cells and reprogramming, tissue engineering, CAR-T and other cell therapies, CRISPR and gene editing, and protein engineering.
Prior to joining Wolf Greenfield, Charles worked as a biotechnology patent agent and has experience working with a variety of clients nationally and internationally, including large pharmaceutical companies, mid-cap clinical-stage and start-up companies, and academic research institutions.
For his doctorate at the University of California, Los Angeles, Charles studied the protein interactions involved in the complex cytoskeleton of the parasite Toxoplasma gondii. His research included utilizing photoactivatable unnatural amino acids to crosslink cytoskeletal proteins in situ, as well as characterizing the function of these proteins using CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene perturbation.
During his time at the Northeastern University School of Law, Charles heavily focused on intellectual property extracurriculars, including acting as the co-chair of the school’s intellectual property student society, working with low-income individuals and business organizations interested in securing trademark and other IP rights in the Intellectual Property Law Clinic, and nationally placing in the 2025 International Trademark Association’s Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court
