Overview

Gregory Gonsalves prepares and prosecutes patent applications and ex parte reexaminations in various fields of technology including cryptography, cybersecurity, integrated circuit design, semiconductor design, medical devices and systems, operations management, business management, computer software, etc.

Gregory serves in high-stakes intellectual property matters at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), Court of Appeals of the Federal Circuit, federal district courts, and the US Supreme Court.

Gregory has served as lead counsel in more than 270 post-grant proceedings (IPRs, CBMs, and PGRs) at the PTAB. In addition, he has served as lead counsel in over 30 appeals to the Court of Appeals of the Federal Circuit, and an appeal to the US Supreme Court.

His clients have generated over a billion dollars in licensing revenue from patents on which he has obtained or saved from cancellation at the PTAB.

Gregory also served as an Administrative Patent Judge (APJ) at the PTAB for three years.

Before beginning his legal career, Gregory worked for over 15 years as an engineer at IBM and Lockheed Martin. He led teams of engineers and software developers in various projects including the automated design of integrated circuits, air traffic control, and satellite scheduling and control.

Activities

Gregory has taught English to immigrants as a volunteer and has represented numerous criminal defendants pro bono as a volunteer at the public defender’s office.
