
Edward A. Stanton
Overview
Ed Stanton assists the Mechanical Technologies Practice in patent prosecution and searching. He has extensive knowledge in the areas of machine learning, industrial automation, robotics, medical devices, and consumer products
Ed’s technical experience spans robotic design and control, robotic path planning, applying artificial intelligence for data classification, structural and thermal characterization, and medical device analysis.
Prior to joining Wolf Greenfield, Ed served as a research assistant with the CCDC Army Research Laboratory at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he developed and performed methodologies testing to gather force, displacement, and strain data to form stress-strain curves for cold sprayed refractory metals.
Experience
- Partnered with an agricultural robotics start-up to develop a patent portfolio including advanced pick and place techniques leveraging machine vision and artificial intelligence algorithms.
- Drafted improved claims targeted to prevent active copycats for a large consumer products company.
- Searched and analyzed prior art to form invalidity opinions for problematic industrial manufacturing patents.
Recognition
- Placed 2nd in Senior Design Competition with Pick and Place Robot – University of Massachusetts, Amherst (2020-2021)
Interests
Ed regularly practices Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and also enjoys running road races – recently completing the Cape Cod marathon.
