Edward A. Stanton
Overview
Ed Stanton assists the Mechanical Technologies Practice in patent prosecution and searching. He has extensive knowledge in the areas of machine learning, industrial automation, robotics, medical devices, and consumer products
Ed’s technical experience spans robotic design and control, robotic path planning, applying artificial intelligence for data classification, structural and thermal characterization, and medical device analysis.
Prior to joining Wolf Greenfield, Ed served as a research assistant with the CCDC Army Research Laboratory at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he developed and performed tests gathering stress and strain data to characterize the elasticity of cold-sprayed refractory metals.
Experience
- Strategized international patent filings for consumer products portfolio to align global coverage for planned foreign-market expansion.
- Drafted claims from acquired competitor portfolios to extract improved priority dates and maximize client value.
- Improved existing claims targeting active copycats for a large consumer products company.
- Developed patent protection for advanced pick and place techniques leveraging machine vision and artificial intelligence algorithms for agricultural robotics start-up.
- Formed invalidity opinion for problematic electrochemical cell manufacturing patents using a targeted prior art search.

Interests
Ed grew up wrestling, being recognized across Massachusetts while wrestling for Burlington High School. He still enjoys time on the mat practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, and Muay Thai Kickboxing in his spare time.
