Katherine T. Wade
Overview
Katherine Wade assists the firm in biotechnology patent prosecution. Prior to joining Wolf Greenfield as a law clerk, Katherine was a patent paralegal in the firm’s Biotechnology practice.
Katherine has supported the prosecution of patent applications across a range of technologies including mRNA vaccines, antibody-drug conjugates, and gene editing. She also has experience performing freedom-to-operate, invalidity, and landscape searches.
Katherine holds a certification in project management and process improvement (Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt) from SeyfarthLean Consulting. She has leveraged these skills to drive improvements in cost, speed, and quality — particularly during her tenure as a paralegal, where she designed dozens of bespoke tools and workflows to support complex biotech portfolios.
Her background includes work in biotechnology, materials science, and coordination chemistry. As a materials science technician, she performed forensic failure analysis on high-value electrical assets and developed chemical testing methods to evaluate sulfur content in insulating materials. She also worked as a research assistant, where she analyzed prior art and clinical data related to fecal microbiota transplant therapies, synthesized and correlated preclinical datasets, and revised toxicity testing protocols for a proprietary biocide. During her undergraduate studies, she conducted research at Université Joseph Fourier in Grenoble, France, where she investigated methods of synthesis for novel ruthenium(II) complexes with enhanced photosensitizing properties.
Interests
A classically trained pianist with a love for Chopin and Liszt, Katherine also spent several years touring internationally as an Irish dancer. She still finds joy in rhythm and movement, and now spends her free time playing music, practicing yoga, and reading.
